Police on Thursday arrested another suspect in connection with last year’s death of Robert Chasowa, a student activist critical of Pres Bingu wa Mutharika who died in April this year.
Southern Region Police Public Relations Officer, Nicholas Gondwa, told Malawi News Agency the guard was arrested together with other suspected accomplices who’d been at large since probe into Chasowa murder started.
“It is true that police have arrested Harry Makina, a guard at KAMU Security Service on allegation that he knows something pertaining to Chasowa’s murder,” Gondwa was quoted by Mana as saying.
Makina was one of the guards on duty at the Polytechnic campus the night Chasowa died.
Circumstances of Chasowa’s death led the commission of inquiry to suggest that Makina and company could help with the investigation.
